I know this is off topic, but I work for a newspaper in New Jersey and we cover the Phillies' Low-A team the Lakewood BlueClaws. Apparently the Blue Jays assistant GM Anthony LaCava was at tonight's game scouting prized pitching prospect Jason Knapp. A Halladay deal could be in the works perhaps?

It wouldn't shock me for the Mets to bring in Acta but I would stick him in the minors. Forcing him onto the coaching staff would cause issues I believe because you would once again have a possible manager in waiting (like Jerry was to Randolph) and if things go south could have a revolt. Plus there is no doubt that Bernazard would use Acta as the Latin Rep possibly dividing the team. Keep him in the minors and if a change is made at the end of the season he can start fresh.

I'm sure that Omar is thinking about Acta, but just where the deuce would Acta go? . . . hitting coach, perhaps? . . . How could he do worse than HoJo (who seems to have gotten a new lease on life over the weekend)?

I'd say predicting being 3-6 out is leaning optimistic, given what I've read about the injuries, but I'll get on board. Season is not over, despite the seemingly popular opinion around here.

I've never read so many obituaries for a team in July that's hovering around .500.

Now we win two straight and the sun is shining and hope is abound.

Let's face it, we're gonna be between 3 and 6 games out on September 1, and there will still be some room for hope. A huge reversal of fortunes in September would be a great story, but is highly unlikely.
