Well then, I guess Livan had better put up or shutup against the Nationals.

Even better news out of the farm system last night:

Jon Niese- 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 K

In his last eight starts, Niese has a 0.96 ERA in 56.1 IP, with a K/9 of 7.3 and a 0.941 WHIP during that stretch. In other words, it looks like he's figured it out.

Speaking of figure, Nelson Figueroa was just as brilliant last night- 7.0 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 5 K

In Figgy's last eight starts, he has a 1.44 ERA in 56.1 IP, with a K/9 of 8.31 and a WHIP of 0.994.

Brad Holt also had a good day- 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

Take away Holt's 1/3 inning outing after his ankle injury (where he allowed 5 ER), and he has a 3.49 ERA in 28.1 IP, with 33 K and 22 H. If you remove his second start coming off that tough injury, he has a 2.52 ERA in 25 IP with 27 K and 15 H.

In other words, when he's been healthy, he's been great.

Ike Davis also had a good day at the plate- 2 for 4, HR, RBI

Davis is hitting .278/.381/.467 in his stint with the B-Mets, which isn't too shabby considering his awful outing with Brooklyn last season. Considering the fact that both he and Holt were playing in college just 14 months ago, I'd say their accomplishments in AA so far deserve praise to say the least.

I can't declare Francouer as "working out" just yet. I can recall only one well-struck ball since the trade. All his other hits were of the bleed or bloop variety.
The bottom line is that I wasn't usually disappointed to see Church come up in the midst of a rally (remember them?).

This new guy feels like a momentum-killer in the lineup to me...I only hope he makes me eat these words...

Quite the win. Francoeur is working out, it would seem. And, so far, Ryan Church hasn't been "the difference" for Atlanta. Also nice to see them tack on three insurance runs in the ninth.
