Personally, I hope the Dodgers trade for Doc just to screw the Phillies. I'd say they're the favorites to win the NL pennant as is, but with him it's by a distance. If the Phillies can't at least get back to the WS, it'll be hard maintaing that revenue.

The rumor is bogus so don't read that deep into it. Last night, when I read it, there was no other source that published it. That's why I was skeptical. I think part of the reason for trading him would be keeping him away from the Phillies, but long term it'd probably actually benefit us if they got Roy, since they probably won't be able to re-sign him & would have to give up Drabek plus other good prospects.

I'm not sure if that package is enough. If you think about it, it's only slightly better than for Santana, which is acknowledged to be a really lopsided deal. F-Mart and Gomez (at least at the time) were equal. Mulvey and Niese have similar value (although the Mets would like to believe differently). The only other guy who sticks out is Parnell for Humber, but from what I've heard Guerra may have some potential. I don't really know much about Tejada, but I'm not sure where he figures into the team's plans with Reyes and Flores.

Sheffield's not going to bring us a lot back for the fact he can't play much OF, he has a bad hamstring and hasn't gotten along with teams. The Mets have been one of the few he has (only because he got everything he expected and more). I guess there is an outside chance that if the Mets get hot (or the Phillies go ice cold), the lead could only be like 4-5 games in a few weeks once all the guy's get back... That'd be striking distance. So you never know. If Gary can't get us anything, they may as well hold onto him. Livan can't get us much either with his regression, but he'd have better value in July than he would in August.

The guy's they should look to move are Angel Pagan (especially if Beltran is coming back soon), Carlos Delgado (in August, he might be able to get us back something), Sheffield, Livan and Sean Green and/or Brian Stokes (if he's not in next year's plans). I think Stokes, Green and Feliciano will be back though.

I agree..you have to make this deal. However...if he doesnt resign with us, then the deal is horrible.

Like I said, Castillo isn't the problem this year. Get off his back. Is it his fault that OMar gave him a contract.

If we have to rely on our scouting dept. to pick out a winner in the rule 5 we are in trouble! lol

I don't want anything more from Castillo. My point, this is all Castillo is, which is a below-average second baseman.

All he's done this year is prove that at his best, he is not worth the contract he got. I realize this is more of an indictment of Omar than Castillo.

But if we'd like to pretend this is T-ball and we should all celebrate the fact that little Luis isn't as horrendous as he was last year, by all means, let's celebrate.

I think 2 beer vendors and a grounds keeper would make me happy.

I'll take a card board cutout. or a Fathead.

I think there was a market for castillo, but Omar didn't push hard enough. The brewers were looking for one. Eat the contract and get a prospect. Well worth it to every mets fan.
