a few days back the Mets picked up “RHP Chris Mason, who the Rays released on July 16th… The 2005 2nd round pick was 3-5 with a 6.24 ERA for the AA Montgomery Biscuits in the Southern League. After earning the Biscuits Pitcher of the Year award in 2007, when he was 15-4 with a 2.57 ERA, Mason was just 3-10 with a 6.21 ERA in AAA Durham. …in 2006, Mason threw a sinker that was mostly 88-89, but would touch 90 on occaision, a short slider and a change up.”

Not sure why Pettyjohn is news and Mason isn’t…
Mason threw for St. Lucie, and is likely on his way to AA where they lack pitching as well.

I don’t even know if he should be in AAA…
1-6, 4.69 ERA, and a 1.76 whip in the IL.

Change of scenery move I suppose. The AAA pitching staff is mostly a sad mess now that Niese and Knight aren’t there anymore.
