In the New York Post, Page Six says Jose Reyes was spotted last Friday night, dancing at the club Serie 56 in Washington Heights.
According to the report, ‘Reyes danced all night long… He and a bevy of Latin ladies took over the entire VIP section.’
The Mets say the report is false, as Reyes was rehabbing in Port St. Lucie last Friday… he was not even in New York.
…i have already had people e-mail me who claim to have been to the club that night, and over the weekend, and all say reyes was not there… he’s been there before, people love when he’s there, and he creates a huge buzz… and nobody said anything this weekend that he was in town…
…for what it’s worth, even if he was seen dancing… so what… the issue he’s having isn’t moving… he can hit, field, throw and even run to second… he says he’s 80 percent… now, had he been spotted running 100 percent, full-speed around the club, over and over again, then, yes, i’d be annoyed… but, dancing… come on…
In 2007, Page Six said John Maine was a crossdresser, saying he had been spotted in a nightclub in New York.
The team said the Maine report was false, because, like Reyes, Maine was in St. Lucie, not New York.
Maybe the Page Six writer is angling for a position on the Mets infield.

It’s a safe bet to say that anytime there’s a negative story put out there about what a player is doing around town that he’s really down in PCL. I knew there was a silver lining to the constant injuries.

This is like when Arod was spotted going out when he was givin 2 days off to rest…well, just like that, who cares, going out helps people relax, especially when you’re loaded and have no worries about tabs.
Like Matt said, Reyes doesnt have a problem moving, its the quick burst and full speed…if he’s at a club dancing, hell, thats probably as good as rehab for the legs as anything.
Except, the A-Rod story is true.

I know what you’re saying that athletes should be allowed to relax, but in the case of A-Rod, the Yankees said he was “fatigued” so the problem was perhaps more how they explained his off days than A-Rod’s late night out.
Matt, Jay Horwitz made a statement saying that Reyes has been in St. Lucie and the report is a lie on WFAN.
