However, in '69, '73, and '86, the Mets had talent. For example, the '69 Mets did not win 100 games playing JC Martin, Al Weis, Bobby Pfeil, Duffy Dyer, and Rod Gaspar on a daily basis. This team is a collection of backups, rookies, and singles hitters. Santana, Pelfrey, and Livan Hernandez does not equal Seaver, Koosman, and Matlack.
