If the Mets were to put Delgado on waivers and he was picked up, wouldn't we lose the compensatory draft pick(s) due us should we wait till the end of the year and someone signs him in January? Then again, that would entail our offering him arbitration, which he just might accept.

Jim, I applaud your optimism. However, in '69, '73, and '86, the Mets had talent. For example, the '69 Mets did not win 100 games playing JC Martin, Al Weis, Bobby Pfeil, Duffy Dyer, and Rod Gaspar on a daily basis. This team is a collection of backups, rookies, and singles hitters. Santana, Pelfrey, and Livan Hernandez does not equal Seaver, Koosman, and Matlack.

However, if the Mets do make the playoffs, I will certainly buy you a steak for keeping the faith.

That would make too much sense...therefore it isnt happening. Our offense would be incredible if we were to bring in both of those guys but as you know Mets ownership never goes above and beyond to put us over the top... Dont be shocked if the Wilpons cheap out on us as usual and we see F-Mart in left field and Daniel Murphy at first... The Wilpons are losers I'm expecting the worst

I heard Gary, Keith and Ron talking about Wright and how many home runs he probably lost a couple of games ago...They said probably no more than 2 or 3...thats where I got it from and I think that's pretty accurate... He has no protection - If he was hitting like 20 homers on the road and 5 home than we could talk but hes not

The Cards traded some decent talent for Holliday. They don't make a lot of mistakes. If they thought they couldn't sign him they would never have made the trade. They just don't operate like that.

Plus Holliday is from Oklahoma, which is old school Cardinals territory.

Claim Dunn, the Nats need money to sign their 2 1st round draft picks maybe theyll just give him over to us that solves 1B/power guy then you can just focus on LF in the offseason crawford and holliday are both perfect fits. Oh and sign John Lackey the guy is a horse #2 and has proven to be a good big game pitcher.

when has scott boras ever let his client not sign for the most money. Teixera is from baltimore and went to school in Georgia, yet he signed with the yanks and if he hadnt he wouldve gone to boston.

Im with you Lorenzo, Id give La Russa whatever he wanted including a majority stake in the teams ownership. The guy gets 110% out of every single guy on his roster every year regardless of talent and in most importantly he WINS.

Sorry, dude, I dont drink. Lets look at the METS for a second. In 1969 we won it all, we went the worst to the best, need I say more? In 1973 we went the basebment to game 7 of the WS. In 1986 we where, well, we all know about 1986. The fact is this team has a history for pulling off the impsossible. Most of the time they will break our hearts and crush our dreams into dust, but, there is an off chance that this may be the year. HAVE FAITH.

Minaya said he declined a lot of offers.

i think he would have been laughed at if he offered anyone other than Santana, Rodriguez or Wright.
