Luis Castillo has been removed from tonight’s game against the Cardinals due to a sprained ankle after falling down the dugout stairs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Castillo was helped to the clubhouse by Ray Ramirez and Fernando Tatis.
…the icing on the cake…

Why am I not surprised or concerned any more?
this team should fly in separate planes…
It is just sad at this point……
The Mets most bizarre injury since El Duque’s torn calf while jogging in the outfield before NLDS Game 1………or Kaz Matsui’s list of random ailments while doing seemingly harmless tasks.
Which amusingly continued into his tenure with the Astros, when he was sidelined with an @nal fissure.
That was interesting……especially when that diagnosis was listed on his rotoworld status update on the fantasy baseball sites.
Wow. Just….wow.
On the plus side, former Met farmhand Yusmeiro Petit has a no-hitter through 7 innings.
Don’t worry the mets will say that he will be out a few days and then Jerry will say he is “real close” to returning. Once that happens we can all rest assured we will not see him again this year.
That will mean the next announcement is he is having his foot amputated. But that won’t be until opening day 2010 after we pass on all available replacements. End result….Our-Heinous Reyes starting 2nd baseman in April 2010
Watch out DW, you’re next on the Grim Disabler’s list.
*FINAL METSTINATION*
The sports illustrated curse strikes again tonite…they picked the mets to win it all, remember?
So I guess Argenis is our starting second baseman or Berroa is our starting shortstop.
Looking at our roster, Wright is the only regular left on the team.
I always wondered what it would be like if your whole team went down. We are seeing it now. This is ridiculous.
I’m sorry, but this is just hilarious. This probably came because a post Matt sourced out said Jonathon Malo should be playing 2B (sarcasm). Or is it the Phillies jerseys under the stadium? Maybe that irony was thrown into the Santana kick ball to David Wright barehand like Murphy’s behind the backer?
Wouldn’t a K-Rod blown slave be cliche?
Careful what you wish for
Bartender!
K-Rod has suffered his 3rd blown save of the season – Luis Castillo has the one own and was paid back for it by the step munchers.
You don’t need a bartender anymore lol There’s no such thing as finger biting anymore if you still had nails from the first few months. This games are menial. We should be rooting for St. Louis so we finish in the bottom 15 and don’t look picks if we try signing Hudson, Bengie Molina or Matt Holliday.
Well most likely we are all just going to sleep with the bottle…
well maybe i don’t but Senior Omar is telling him to rack em up!
Omar will be the bartender on October 5th. His nickname can be ”edge.” It’s the corner that got Crapillo.
and here it comes…
Matt! Quick!
Post a Phillie’s magic number with Mr. Met in the shadows!
We need a damn miracle!!!
God hates Mets fans…. plain and simple
We will find out tomorrow that Minaya got a call from a GM to acquire Castillo while absorbing his full salary an inning before this mishap…it’s the only reasonable explanation for why it would happen.
how silly!
next you will say that we have only 1 regular in our lineup and one pitcher who isn’t hurt or nuts!
oh…
guess that’s true, ain’t it?
sorry…
That’s just ridiculous.
Minaya rejected the offer out right.
Btw, I’d like to congratulate Omar for sitting on his arse assuming Lugo would just clear waivers and fall into his lap, in the process dealing with critical issues like Adam Rubin…while the Cardinals actually picked up the phone and replaced the guy they assumed would be their SS this year. He looks terrible.
Kudos Omar!
you can lose the WC standings, Matt
they’re folding up the chairs, man
another dagger into our hearts
I’m sure Castillo’s ankle is broken which means he will clear waivers, not be traded, and proceed to have two terrible seasons to finish up his contract…Awesome!
I agree, lose the WC standings. It’s really depressing to look at this point.
This is like the Simpsons softball episode before the final game when Mr Burns is thinking what would happen if some players couldnt play and he says something like maybe a guy here or there could have an incident but not the whole team. And in the end the whole team (except Straw) cant play. Well thats the mets this year.
maybe the Mets can invest in more than one pitching machine
it seems they dont know how to hit fastballs either..
Get a bubble for Luis. the steps?
At least we know how Castillo got hurt…..
I still do not understand how Reyes or Beltran got hurt.
Sad but true, its funny how they were fine in the spring, and all of a sudden, not so much, must be nice to play for your country in a tropical setting and end up sitting home or doing half butt rehab work the rest of the spring and summer.
