According to the Daily News, the Mets acquired 29–year-old OF Jason Dubois from the Cubs.

Dubois had been hitting .302 with a .390 OBP, 32 extra base hits and 50 RBI in 91 games in Triple-A this season.

He’s hit .233 in 210 career at bats, while playing for the Cubs and Indians, though he has not been in the major leagues since 2005.

He has played left and right field, and one game at first base.

Are these moves a joke? How many Cory Sullivans does one team need?

Someone tell Omar to stay home until he can make a real trade please.

Gary Sheffield says “DL, here I come!”

Omar is a joke, remember when Putz, Sean Green and K-Rod were all the mets were missing?

Ha!

Another useless acquisition.

Why is Omar insulting my intelligence

chaseh August 8, 2009 at 10:35 am

Nice pickup. Former top prospect who could still develop. Doubt it cost the Mets much.

kinda long in the tooth for triple A, no?

Agee's Catch August 8, 2009 at 10:54 am

Was that sarcasm? I hope it was…

Clearly you have just stumbled in the door from a night of drinking copious amounts of adult beverages.

Kind of all hard on Chase here. If we don’t have give up anything, who cares? Small insignificant moves like this often and are hardly ever note worthy. I’d like to see Omar gone at the end of the season, but I doubt he said to himself “This will fix our team” when he made the move.

Jason Dubois:

Career .233/.286/.443 hitter in 396 ABs in four years with Cleveland and Chicago, has always depended on the kindness of strangers.

likes long walks on the beach, teacup poddles and butter pecan iced cream….

Teacup poodles? Great, he and Beltran will get along…

I think Omar is over his head at times. He is great in picking up so called “superstars in the bottle” not yet developed or could be factor like tatis, Valetin, and etc. But that is the extend besides the obvious need like K-rod, Santana. It is sad, that is all his best at, not moves that really count.

Mmmmmm AAAA players.

I’ll say one thing, though: Dude has got some serious pop. The average and OBP in the majors don’t stand out, but look how high his slugging percentage is, majors and minors. If he can make some more contact, he actually could be a Ryan Ludwick-like late bloomer.

Agee's Catch August 8, 2009 at 1:35 pm

MLB announced the formation of a new AAAA league last month.

This just in from the AP: AAAA league cancelled due to Mets cornering the market on all available players

Andrew August 8, 2009 at 3:11 pm

The bright side is that if we had another strike, the Mets would still be able to run the same starting lineup out there.
