Gonna feel alot better about 2010 if were looking at Parnell in the rotation. We still need a solid number 2 so pelf can be the number 3 he’s meant to be, Oliie at 4 and then you’re looking at your pick from Parnell , Maine, niese, nieve and Livan to round it out. And that gives us at least 2 of those to put in a trade for the no 2.

As for 2009, Dodgers beat Philly in nlcs and beat yanks in the ws.

ive read a couple places that the mets will have about 20 mil to spend and it will all have to be for a bat or two(holliday hopefully)….so i honestly wouldnt be shocked if the rotation is….johan pelf perez niese parnell……they are trying to build the rotation from within to prevent using there remaining $$ on it….and i gotta be honest…the FA market for pitching is bad….and its good for LFers…(holliday, bay) so id be fine with building a young rotation from within as long as they get a big fish for LF

Agreed, that’s why I’m hoping we can pull in a 2 starter on a trade with 2 of the pitchers above and maybe some prospects, but I confess I don’t keep up on who will be available. LF bat is a must, and if murph is gonna be a doubles hitter at first we could use some swat at catcher.

Too much to ask for 5 out of Parnell?

I hope we can get 4…he won’t get the win, but hopefully we can get some confidence.

Ouch. I guess the Bobby Parnell Era hasn’t started yet.

Perhaps Nelson Figueroa can stop the madness……

Did the Mets drop Alex Cora’s “Beards til 500″ ? Because if they commit to something like that, the team should be forced to not shave until they hit 500 again, be it by winning enough games or when the season is over and they’re 0-0 for the 2010 season.

Tough outing for Parnell. Can’t be easy to go from pen to start. Hopefully he gets the next spot for another chance.

High pitch count, finally pulled in the third. …

He was on 60-70 pitch count and had already thrown 68 pitches when he was taken out in the third.

Just for the hell of it, I wanted to see how many players had played for the Mets so far this season. This is game 110 and already 48 players have appeared in a game for the Mets. That will show you how banged up they’ve been. By contrast, the Marlins have had 43, the Braves 42 and the Phillies 38.

2-1 and the game is over because you know the Mets can’t mount a rally.

Well to the Mets Petco is “2-1 Stadium.” You know, except when they are up 2-1.

Since the third inning last night, have they mounted what could even be considered a scoring threat?

Is anyone else still surprised by the depths of their loathing for this team?

I mean, if you could measure the desire of the 24 men in the Mets dugout to win this game on a scale of 1 to 10, what would it be. 1.7? Too high?

The team on the field deserves every bit of crap dumped on them right now. It’s one thing to get beaten by a team that is clearly putting more talent on the field then you but it is another to be beaten by a team that is clearly putting out more effort than you because you’re basically phoning it in. The Mets have phoned these 3 games in.

Great points all. Play hard and we’ll root hard. I’m sure it’s hard to dig every ball out and hustle when you know the season is over…but give us something to work with for the next two months.

Along with some head scratching moves by Manuel over the last year, this should be reason enough to send him packing this offseason.

Hmm – let me exempt Sean Green. I love him.

Hey Omar, next time a team is perfectly willing to trade away a young, under-contract bullpen arm, try doing some research.

well probably going to bed now but heres some thoughts

well, the offense sucks not that we didn’t know that but next year i want lots of runs and burying of teams that are under .500, i want lots of runs against all teams but we especially need to put away the “bad teams”

Nice to see a Cora homerun, I think it was worth watching the game just for that

KD – apparently F-core shaved because he wasn’t sure when they’d get to .500 and I guess he just wanted to shave, others still are sporting beards i’m not sure the message in the clubhouse about them but at the rate we are going we aren’t getting to .500 anytime soon although I agree that its a team pact and nobody should shave, they should suck it up

did anybody else feel better when they say Castillo up to bat? It felt nice and familiar

It was funny with F-core attempting a 9 to 3 put out but he got a little over anxious and the ball was high….it was also funny to hear the crowd boo the umpires everytime they made a call – it went on for a long time i admire their perseverance

I will never understand the engima that is Sean Green, sometimes he can be lights out and then sometimes he just sucks…he can get you a nice ground ball DP and then just as easily hit somebody with the bases loaded or walk somebody with the bases loaded.

do not fret mets fans, enjoy the small moments and hopefully 2010 brings with it lots of wins and a record over .500.

The Mets haven’t had a baserunner past first base since the second inning.

Parnell used too many pitches but he did only end up with the two runs, i can chalk that up to jitters at his first major league start and i am interested to see him when he can go further into games, i assume after the next two or three starts, when it will get more interesting

we also have to do something about the dp guys keep hitting into, maybe send the first base runner i’m not sure but its getting annoying

With Castillo and Sheffield additionally out of the lineup, the Mets are fielding easily the worse lineup in baseball.

I can’t believe I have to pretend not to care, pretend that I’m not going to watch, pretend like I’m not totally disgusted with this team, all for another 2 months.

    Aug 09, 2009, 9:09 am at 9:09 am #

I cannot say that I don’t care, cause I obviously do. This season seemed weird since the beginning. I dont know if its because of a new ballpark or the new and improved bullpen but for me there was just something odd.

Its sad, i used to watch every game and get angry when they lose. With the way the last 2 seasons ended and the way this season has turned out, i will tune in, see they are losing (or winning) then go on with my life.

I cant be mad at Omar or Jerry for what has happened this year because injuries can happen to anyone. I honestly do believe that Omar tried to help the team but other GM’s saw that we needed help and they tried to take all of our prospects for a subpar player. And Jerry does not go out looking for players, he just has to manage what he has.

My wish for next year, besides to win the ws, is to get rid of Manuel. Again I dont blame him for injuries, but you can tell this team is defeated. Manuel’s attitude is very laid back and it shows in the lack of caring from the players. Heck look at the Nationals, they are 27 games back but play like they are in a playoff race.

I just dont think I would be able to handle a Phillies/Yankees ws this year.
