by Matthew Cerrone on August 17th, 2009 at 10:23 pm

The Mets lost to the Giants by the score of 10 to 1 in Citi Field tonight.

The Least You Should Know:

Yet again, Livan Hernandez got lit up like a pinball machine, allowing six runs and 11 hits in 5.1 innings of work.

The Mets had eight hits and left nine men on base, and scored their only run a single from Gary Sheffield in the third inning.

Misc., Etc., and other Stuff:

If good pitching give you a chance to win every night, Jerry, why are you still leaning on Livan Hernandez, who has now allowed 18 runs and 26 hits in his last three starts.  Yes, 26 hits.  His pitches just have no life, no movement, it looked like he was throwing BP tonight, just chucking decent fastballs over the plate, with no action on them at all.

Paging Mr. Figueroa, Mr. Nelson Figueroa, please begin preparing for a start in five days, thank you.

Hey, I hear the Mets next promotional night will be to give away a free meal with the purchase of a season-ending surgery?

I think the Mets stepped in the batter’s box tonight.  But, I mean, at this point, who really knows any more.

The Next Series:

The Mets begin a three-game series with the Braves tomorrow at Citi Field, with Oliver Perez facing Derek Lowe.

…yes, perez vs. lowe… how about that for a coincidence
