The Mets (59-73) continue their three-game series with the Rockies (73-59) at 8:40 pm tonight, with Tim Redding taking on Ubaldo Jimenez.
Angel Pagan will bat leadoff, followed in order by Luis Castillo, Daniel Murphy at first base, Jeff Francoeur, Cory Sullivan in left field, Fernando Tatis at third base, Brian Schneider behind the plate, Wilson Valdez at shortstop and Redding on the mound.
Jimenez is 5-1 with a 1.77 ERA over his last six starts, and 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in three starts against the Mets.
Redding has a 3.67 ERA in his last 27 innings pitched.
The Mets are just 10–22 in their last 32 games.
By the way, Carlos Beltran will DH tonight in a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Brooklyn.
According to a post on Twitter, from Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record, Beltran said he is still not 100 percent.

When he is at his best he is 87.2%, so of course he isn’t 100%.
Not to start trouble, but here we go with the famous Carlos Beltran percentage watch.
Beltran can replenish our farm system by himself…if F-Mart can learn to play CF, I’d trade him in a heartbeat. He’s only going to start his decline within the next couple of years, so why not get a few top prospects out of him? I love Tran, but I am a Mets fan who is far more concerned with 2010 and beyond than 2009. We’ve got some good talent coming up, guys…let’s add to it!
I hope these guys continue their development:
Ike Davis, Brad Holt, Jenrry Mejia, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, F-Mart, Wilmer Flores, Jeffery Flagg, Eric Niesen, Jeurys Familia, Reese Havens, and hopefully Matz too!
Okay, it’s definitely the alcohol talking, but I’ve been following the Mets’ farm system like crazy, and despite the records they really do have some potential studs down there. If they were all at the same level, they’d win a MiLB championship.
why would he be playing if he’s not 100 percent?
at this point, there is no reason that Tatis or Schneider, both of whome won’t (better not!) be on the team next year, should be playing.
Thole should be catching, since he is up. Let Evans play 3B to see if he has enough glove to be viable there next year (as a back up, of course, to take over the Tatis role). Or call up someone else.
I don’t want to see sheff, schnieder or tatis in the lineup again (heck, A hern or wilson valdez either) unless it is as a PH!
Although I guess we re stuck with the MI guys, but isn’t tthere anyone else on the 40 man that can be called up?
agree, this is just stupid, why are these broken down old men still playing
I dont really care about Evans, I think he sucks. With that said….I agree with you. These guys should be playing, especially thole.
francoeur and cerrone look a little bit alike? thoughts?
It’s nice to see that they are carrying 3 catchers, and the rookie hasn’t had an AB yet in 2 games.
Way to go Mets Front office.
