The Mets have claimed Staten Island native Jack Egbert off of waivers from the Chicago White Sox.
Egbert, 26, had made two relief appearances for the White Sox in April, and allowed eight runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Well, compared to our guys, that ERA is pretty good.
Looking at minor league stats he seems to have had a good 2007…..K’ing more than 1 per inning with an ERA in the 3’s. Doesn’t seem like he has replicated that though…….oh well….no harm in claiming him.
He’s from Staten island! He must be good. Bring on Jason Marquis.
At this point, what’s the harm? Throw another body in the mix.
Omar seems to have perfected this move this year. Claiming pitchers who a team designates for assignment while they still have additional option years remaining. I guess there is one thing he can do well… small upside on all those guys however. But the AAA staff will be pretty much filled out before November… so thats one less thing to occupy Minaya’s one track mind.
Lmao.
if we don’t manage to tie this game with the bases loaded and no out we deserve to lose, and also i realize this isn’t a game thread but i was already on this site when we loaded the bases so i thought i’d just type right in here
