Note: Reyes Runs, Officially Done

By Michael Baron on Sep 26, 2009, 8:20 pm

Prior to tonight’s game, Jose Reyes ran with what Jerry Manuel called “intensity”.

Manuel told reporters:

“If that type of stuff could be witnessed and could be somewhat intense or close to game action, it would be very satisfying.”

Despite the encouraging results, Reyes will not play for the remainder of the year, but is expected to play either winter ball or workout at the Mets facility in the Dominican Republic during the offseason.

…I just want to see reyes turn the page on this entire ordeal and come back in the right shape, confident in the health of his leg so he can be what the team needs him to be at the top of this lineup…

i just read of mlbtr that the rays could be trading upton this offseason, and would be selling low with needs behind the plate and in the bullpen… what about exercising putz’ option and set up a package around him?

His option is for 8.5 million next season. The Rays are finanically strapped.. I don’t think they would take on a pitcher coming off injuries for that much money. They would take their chance on a low risk high reward a la Troy Percival.

And there’s a good chance he still needs surgery on that hamstring tendon.

How does Jose have surgery AND play in winter ball?

Another example of Mets brain farts from the Mets brASS.

If he is running without pain that is good enough for me, go play winter ball and be ready for 2010
