The Mets continue their series with the Marlins tonight at 7:10 pm, at Land Shark Stadium in Miami.

Although Jerry Manuel said David Wright would have tonight off, he is in the lineup and batting third.

Daniel Murphy will have the night off, and Fernando Tatis will play first base and bat sixth.

Angel Pagan will lead off, followed in order by Luis Castillo, Wright, Carlos Beltran, Jeff Francoeur, Tatis, Omir Santos, and Anderson Hernandez.

John Maine (6-5, 4.13 ERA) will start for the Mets. Maine is making his fourth appearance against Florida tonight, and he is 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA against the Marlins this season. At Land Shark Stadium Maine has no record and a 3.60 ERA in just five innings pitched this year.

Sean West (7-6, 4.85 ERA) will start for the Marlins. At Land Shark Stadium, West is 5-2 with a 3.26 ERA on the year, and he has made two stellar starts and one not so stellar starts against the Mets this season, the bad one coming on September 10 when he allowed four runs in four innings.

Obviously were stacking a righthanded lineup against West. I still think Jerry should go. He’s done nothing to distinguish himself this season

As usual Jerry reneges, even though i’m sure Wright talked his way in which i give him credit for, Jerry is the manager and take control.

let’s go maine! he’s looked good so far hopefully he can stay healthy

as for wright i believe jerry was misquoted on this site because on the post-game from yesterday he said wright would sit sunday not tonight

Wright’s probably playing because West is a lefty and he owns lefties, hope he has a great game.

From Bob Klapish on Twitter: “Hughes K’s Kotchman with a perfect cutter. He learned the grip and release from Mo, one of the many reasons he’s been unhittable.” Well, la-dee-frickin’-da for Hughes. So glad something’s going right in the Bronx for a change.

Let’s Go Mets. Whee.

FYI… Hughes was a first-round pick in the 2004 draft. The Yankees got that pick when Andy Pettite signed with the Astros. Yes, the same Andy Pettite who is now a Yankee with Phil Hughes. That worked out well for the Astros, huh?

I like that the boys in the booth are asking about N. Evans.
I like N. Evans.
Jerry, not so much.
Let the kid play some!

Wright slows down a few steps before home, Frenchy is being aggressive trying to stretch a single into a double, he gets thrown out before Wright touches home… and now Wright will get crucified for doing WHAT EVERY SINGLE MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYER HAS DONE FOR DECADES. “Inexcusable”, says Hernandez. Because I’m sure Keith Hernandez never slowed down crossing home plate.

He still right. Hernandez has two rings and an mvp. Wright couldn’t carry Keith’s jock.

John Maine needs to focus on pitching & stop doing those Verizon Fios commercials

You gotta love it. So, once again Maine goes out and pitches 5 innings. Oh wait…he couldnt even pitch 5 innings.

Fact is..the mets need to sign Lackey (or trade for a starter) and if they can afford him, Marquis. Then you can have Pelfrey, Maine, niese and Ollie battle for the last 2 spots. By the way, i am a Maine Fan.
