Who can argue with you, KD? You're right.

The one "out" that I do give us -- and a show of the guts that some guys HAVE shown -- is that we have had, as you said, ". . . Players being depended on to play every day when they’re not used to? AAA players playing in a Major League setting?"

To these points:

Cora - Most plate appearances since 2004
Murphy- Almost a technical rookie
Anderson Hernandez - 2009 plate appearances far exceeded total of his ML career
Pagan - 2009 plate appearances almost matched total of his ML career
Santos - A rookie
Tatis - Most pa's since 2002
Thole - Rookie

These guys were mainstays in our lineup, and to my mind, did a great job TRYing to hold together an offense and defense that, to me, was given a real task by a pitching staff that just couldn't hold back the other team.

Can anyone calulate what the total salaries of the above guys was for 2009?

i do agree that we had some bad luck there with line drives getting caught all over the place but with the bases loaded twice and nobody out twice we deserve to lose,

The only "positive" from last night was that we were hitting FROZEN ROPES that found the Nationals' gloves.

AND . . . did anyone notice that Wright was hanging in against the righty breaking balls, especially later in the game? It seems that he said "hell with THIS! I'm NOT going to hit from my heels." Anyone who DVRd the game (and is masochist enough to actually SAVE it) can take a look and see his posture.

Other than that, yuch.

First and formost, Mr YOung, It is my humble opinion, the FIRST thing this TEAM needs is a ownership with cash and passion!
NYC is BIG.
The Freddy and Jeff Show is small time potata's

I'm going to the Bob Evans for lunch today. I'll ask them if they've heard from Nick. Maybe he's sequestered doing sausage research.

I have not written on this blog for some time as i see many other people have not either. Please don't blame it on the injuries as this team was not good before all the injuries hit.

1st inning bases loaded nobody out and no hits
8th inning same as above.

This team needs the following:

1B
2B
LF
3 Starting Pitcher (Maine and Perez can not be counted on)
2 Bullpen arms
a new bench (bring back Cora)
manager
bench coach
pitching coach
third base coach
first base coach
a minor league system

I'm done for the season analyzing what the Mets did wrong to lose games. Fundamentals in the field or base running. Poor pitching. Lethargic hitting. It's the same thing almost every game. There's no use any more in repeating it.

These things snowball and this season, it was extreme. Injuries exposed what most already knew was a weak farm system. The lack of hitters exposed fundamental errors that get covered up when the offense puts up numbers. Or were the fundamental errors caused by the players knowing the season is over? Lack of focus was an issue. Is it lazy players? Players being depended on to play every day when they're not used to? AAA players playing in a Major League setting? Or is it the Phillies jerseys buried under the new field?

So many issues but they're all connected.

But on the positive side, Keith is headed down to Florida for his 6 months of R & R.
