This is a scary stat. K-Rod is 3-6 this year with a 3.77 ERA, a 1.315 WHIP and 34 Saves. In his WORST year as a Met, Armando Benitez was 6-4, with a 3.77 ERA, 1.297 WHIP and 43 Saves.

    • The comparison of numbers of saves is unfair in that K-Rod did not have enough opportunities to save games compared to Benitez even in his worst year when the Mets won 82 games.

I will agree with that. However, the additional stats don’t lie.

The argument against Benitez was never his inability to save games. The argument against Benitez was the inevitable choke job in the big spots against the Braves, Yanks, or in any other meaningful game.

K-Rod has done it in the big spot. Benitez was almost never able to. That’s the real difference.

That having been said… of COURSE K-Rod has struggled in the second half this year! OF COURSE he has! Like ANYthing can go right for the Mets this year?!

I love the way the graph spikes UP when Ollie goes on the DL as well as Delgado.

Obviously the dot at the top, though, sums it up.

    Great graphic.
