Couldn't have said it better myself, O'ChooChoo.

Usually, the last game of the season brings in a pretty dismal feeling. The thought that I won't be able to enjoy Mets baseball for 4+ months until they start reporting for Spring Training.

Not this year, though.

Today, we all get to exhale, and realize that it's finally over. Tomorrow, we'll wake up refreshed and take our next steps to 2010.

Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty we're free at last!

This is the first time in my many years as a Mets fan that I'm actually relieved that the season is over.

Now we can start anew, look forward to all of the key players returning to good health and hope the GM (who ever he may be) picks up a decent pitcher, a good bat and a new manager over the winter.

Thank God its finally over. THe only guys who SHOULD be Mets next year are reyes, wright, beltran, santana, krod. Nelson Figueroa is not on that list, like anyone else if an upgrade is there to be made, make it.

Oh and sorry to be THAT guy but:

The question the Mets will have to ask in the off season is whether he can play a full season, stay healthy and play smart, otherwise they need a left fielder.

Make no mistake about it, Pagan will not be healthy all of next season. Pagan will still have horrible baseball instincts, and the Mets WILL need a left fielder.

We may be able to include him in a trade for a major player. Pagan is a respectable CF/leadoff hitter, but he is a luxury for a team with pressing needs.

Nice end to a horrible season.

Also nice to see the Mets say farewell to the fans for the fist time in, what, 3 seasons?

Now it's time to clear house, and build a successful team. Expectations are low going forward, so theres no pressure to HAVE to add a Luis Castillo, Moises Alou, etc.

Build for long term success, not another one and done. and by "done" I, of course, am referring to 24 months of grueling, excrutiating torture.

Even if it means we're just a middling up-and-coming team next year, we can take it, we're Mets fans after all. We've been through worse.

Happy offseason boys, though the way the last two offseasons have gone, I think Matt's busy time is just around the corner.
