I don't think this opinion from the Times is really relevant, honestly.

The assumption is that they won't trade him unless they get a ton back for him because his value is low.

I don't think this is correct. Upton's value hasn't been high in two years, almost. He was hurt last year and did have a great playoff last year, and he's showing that he is inconsistent in hitting style other than being a flyball hitter.

I think the Rays would rather get SOME value for him rather then having to pay Upton arbitration and eventually just let him go.

What is interesting, of course, is that the Mets have a few 'almost untouchables' whose value is pretty low right now too...

Agree with Dominican... why trade for upton to be our lf when if your looking for a young kid with potential, why not just go with F Mart? Trading for Upton makes no sense at all... trading for Carl Crawford is different though.

buying low is a good idea but as the rays said they would be selling very l ow and who knows if they'll want to do that (it seems the don't) and yes i agree we need proven players, solid players, to lengthen the lineup and score runs

I dont know what's all the hype about upton. the guy had a fluke year, the league figured him out and he cant adjust. I mean murphy had a better year than him. we need proven guys, no guys with potential to be great..
