Buzz: Tim Hudson Likely to be Free Agent

by Michael Baron on October 13th, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Ken Rosenthal from FOX Sports says that barring a big, last minute offer from the Braves, Tim Hudson will likely test the free-agent market.

Hudson and the Braves have a mutual option for $12 million in 2010, and if Hudson declines that option, he is free to negotiate with any team.

Hudson finished the year with just seven starts, going 2-1 with a 3.61 ERA down the stretch for the Braves after recovering from Tommy John Surgery.

…I’m not sure that Hudson fits in what the Mets would be trying to accomplish this winter…I know he pitched well down the stretch, but the idea should be to emphasize health and durability, and seven starts doesn’t tell me anything about durability, especially since he will be closer to 35 next year…

…If he can be had on the cheap I wouldn’t be opposed to the Mets being atleast interested, but that likely wouldn’t be the case if he declines his option with Atlanta…
