John of Metstradamus feels Jose Reyes will always be two– to three-weeks away from something.

In a post to Mets Fans Forever, Drew Costello gives a recap of Mets players in the Winter Ball.

Greg Jansen makes a Modest Proposal for the Mets, in a post to Bleacher Report, such as, “Start Johan Santana every day in 2010.’

…Ted Berg and i recently joked that santana will eventually get so frustrated, that, on days he isn’t pitching, he’ll tell them he’s starting at second base instead… and the thing is, he’s probably a good-enough athlete that he could do it

Ed Ryan of Mets Fever argues in favor of Takashi Saito, should the Mets decide to replace J.J. Putz.

Rob from Amazin Avenue takes a look at 12 possible Diamonds in the Rough for your team’s pitching staff next season, much like Fernando Nieve had been for the Mets in 2009… before ending his season with a torn thigh muscle.

i like Charlie Haeger, if for no other reason than i like watching knuckleballers; and Jo-Jo Reyes, who has revitalized relief pitcher written all over him

Diamonds in the rough? Really? Nieve pitched 36 innings. That’s a stop-gap pitcher who got lucky enough to get a few outs… and as I recall he got lit up right before he went on the DL.

You want a diamond in the rough? Albert Pujols is a diamond in the rough. Mike Piazza is a diamond in the rough. Fernando Nieve may never pitch for the Mets again… that’s not a diamond in the rough.

I keep forgetting that Putz could have some trade value as a closer, granted, not anywhere near as much as we thought when that trade went down

I’m sure Santana could do it. Then again, Mota used to take infield practice during BP.

Also, Babe Ruth was sold because even he thought it was too much of a strain to pitch _and_ play a position, and wanted to hit over pitch.

I hope Micah Owings is thinking the same thing
