Minors: Jenrry Mejia Knocked Around Again in AFL
Last night, in his second start in the Arizona Fall League, 20–year-old Mets prospect Jenrry Mejia let up three runs, five hits, walked three and struck out one, in just two innings pitched.
He has allowed six hits and six runs in 18 innings this fall.
Earlier this week, in a report for ESPN.com, Keith Law describes Mejia as, ‘The most impressive arm so far,’ that he has seen in the AFL.
Last week, Adam Rubin of the Daily News said Jerry Manuel watched Mejia’s first start, “to gauge whether he may be able to help the Mets in the bullpen in early 2010.”
Meanwhile, 1B Ike Davis had two doubles, and is batting .364 in 22 at bats, while 20-year-old SS Ruben Tejada is batting .412 in 17 at bats this fall.
