I can see the Mets not wanting to spend on Lackey being they will overpay. Lackey is not worth overpaying! Now to LF with Holliday ? I don't think Holliday is worth breaking the bank either but the Mets feel they'll get more for thier money. I'd rather see them trade for Prince Fielder and go after Carl Crawford for lf. Mets Need 2 starters. Bedard should be priority!

Hey, I'm with ya on F-core hopefully continuing his offensive strides in a Mets uniform. But with that said, part of the reason the Mets brought him in is he brought at the very least, some stability to the lineup which I think all Met fans can agree was sorely needed when the Mets made that trade. Along with that the Mets got stellar defense from F-core. Don't get me wrong I was a Church fan who had good defense himself, but the fact is Church has yet to prove that he is any more than a platoon player over the course of a full season. I still expect the Mets to hang on to F-Mart if nothing else as insurance if Beltran knees continue their issues. But untill F-mart proves he can stay healthy over 162 games he isn't much more than the back-up plan u speak of.

Well lets all pray his production stay as it has been while he has been in a Mets uniform. If it doesn't, I assume you feel he should still trot out there for another 150 because he is durable.

I am trying not to hate on Francouer, but I refuse to drink the Kool-aide on a guy who has has less then stable production. I could care less if he can play 150, and sucks.

Time will tell. I hope he produces, but you have to have a contingency plan.

Besides, clearly CF is F-marts best position. He is more likely to replace Beltran when the time comes, which believe it or not was the Mets plan for F-mart to begin with.

The chances that F-mart displaces F-core anytime soon are way beyond remote! Let's put it this way the Mets have a better chance of trading for and signing Roy Halladay to an entension than F-mart does of displacing F-core in Right Field! The kid has yet to play a full season at any level! Whereas, F-core routinely plays 150 plus games a season, year after year. Say what u want about Jeff's offense (which will inprove), but F-Mart can't hold a candle to F-core's durabilty! That alone puts F-core in RF for atleast the next 2 seasons, probably more!

Ike Davis is a 1B/RF. He has played RF before, and he has a really strong arm. So strong in fact that some scouts have said that he could be moved to the bullpen.

Davis' main position is first base, but could play LF without a problem.

You are not replacing Francouer. The question was: Why move F-mart for a front end arm when there is no sure thing that Francouer produces like he did once traded. I mearly mentioned that if you were to deal F-mart, and Francouer craps out, you COULD have Davis in RF and Murphy at first.

Wait... isn't Ike Davis a first basemen? And why are we already replacing Francouer? Because he was good, and good doesn't belong on the Mets?

Yeah, it would not be smart to deal him when Francouer coudl very well crap out next year. I was working under the assumption that Francouer was going to be extended to a three year deal, as per the unsetteling rumors. Seeing how Jeff Wilpon waxes poetic about Jeff Francouer, I am inclined to believe this.

But, yeah, you are right. The prudent move would be to keep F-Mart. You could have Ike Davis start in RF though.

F-Mart would have every right to take the job from Franceour, provided he was producing enough.

I'm not sure the team really knows how French fits into the puzzle. Is he the dreadful hitter from the first half or was he the moderately productive player with us that got a good amount of RBI? I'm not sure anyone knows the answer..
