The Cleveland Indians have hired former Nationals manager and Mets coach Manny Acta to a three year contract to fill their managerial position.

The deal also includes a club option for the 2013 season.

The Indians chose Acta after interviewing Bobby Valentine and their Triple-A manager Torey Lovullo.

YES!!!! Bobby V can still be our manager after next season!!!!!

I would imagine that Bobby V didn’t lose the job to Manny Acta because of skill but b/c Bobby V was probably a lot more expensive.

And wanted alot more control of the roster I bet.

Ah Bobby, I am soooo sorry you didn’t get the job! See you soon!

MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart confirms, via Twitter, that Acta turned down the Houston job for Cleveland. McTaggart adds that the Astros offered Acta a two-year contract with an option.

Can someone tell me what’s so special about Manny Acta?

Best of luck to Acta. He’s a really smart baseball guy who was in an impossible situation in Washington.

I’d rather have him than Jerry any day of the week.

Hate to break it everyone, but if we end up contending again this season, Jerry Manuel will be back in 2011…I almost want the Mets to get off to a bad start just so Bobby V can back…but I also want Halladay, Pujols, and Holliday too!

Not for nothing, but I would really, really love for Andy Pettitte to not get a win tonight.

No one can ever comment about the Mets’ fundamentals after watching this hatchet job by the Angels.

racemccloud October 25, 2009 at 11:44 pm

I turned it off to watch the Giants blow it. What happened here?

fortleemets October 25, 2009 at 11:47 pm

Well, Vlad was picked off of first on a pop-fly and to errors on bunts to first. If the Mets played like this, the media would destroy them.

racemccloud October 25, 2009 at 11:50 pm

The Mets DO play like this, and the media DOES destroy them for it.

That having been said… it’s like the Angels WANT all of our worst nightmares to come true.

AAGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

DAK442 October 25, 2009 at 11:53 pm

What a rip-off! The Angels have been terrible! So much for fundies.

DominicanBoy08 October 26, 2009 at 12:01 am

our nightmare WS has become a reality!

racemccloud October 26, 2009 at 12:03 am

Well, it’s official. God hates us.

Take a look at the 2009 Yankees, ladies and gentlemen. The best pennant money can buy.

The Phillies aren’t going to roll over and beat themselves like the Angels and Twins.

Honestly, I have to root for them. At least I can respect how they built their team.

The ONLY way this world series could be worse is if the Dallas Cowboys were the umpiring crew.

This world series is my worst nightmare of no consequence… my actual worst nightmare is hearing a knock at my door only to open and find David Hasselhoff in a speedo singing ‘more than a feeling’.

I don’t get it. Acta for three years with an option? Wow. They practically gave away Lee to the Phillies and couldn’t re-sign CC. Indians fans must be very angry these days.
