Don't bother - Lorenzo's mind has been made up. Mets are cheap and there's nothing you can do to dissuade him of that inaccuracy no matter how many facts you show him.

Highest payroll in NL? Doesn't matter?

Spending on players like Santana, Beltran, K-Rod? Nope.

As far as Lorenzo is concerned, everytime the Mets don't spend money, it just shows how cheap they are.

You know I am happy. If his price tag goes way way down, then they should look into him. The asking price is that of an established arm, and Chapman is the opposite of that. I think the price tag will come down. No way he gets the money he is asking for. Not eventhe Yankees will pay this guy his $60M. Theo is not dumb enough to do that either.

Anyone calling the Mets cheap for passing on this asking price does not know much about player contract value.

I agree 100%.

I don't think the mets are all the way out of the running. I think they said 60 million no thanks. If the number goes down then you could see the mets get back involved. I don't know many teams that would spend this kind of money on someone who's not a sure thing.

This is good news. It's just not smart to throw that kind of money at this guy. He's totally unproven and that money could be used to get several quality MLB players plus go overslot more often in the draft.

Focus on Holliday and let's get on with it.

We spend 36 million on oliver perez who we KNOW sucks but we cant bid for a guy that could at least potentially be good.

The teams a wreck, but to scream cheap like that hardly rings true, as you can easily point to the payroll and non player spending relative to the rest of the league. There's another team in NY that might be more to your liking.

Hubbuch says the Mets made this decision after learning about his $40-$60 million price tag.

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. The same story every season. As long as the Wilpons own the team we will always be losers. Guerrero, AROD, Manny, etc. the list goes on and on. Never go over the top to win... They just do whats adequate. Our owners are PATHETIC!

How can we fold? The bidding hasn't even started yet!

As an org. The Mets always do this to the fans.

Does it really need to be public knowledge that we are either after someones services or not? it sends the wrong message to the fans.

We need to try and see if we can get him.

What ever happened to "we'll be in touch"?!?

Instead, they'll save the money and keep the holes. There are few choices this year that will make a big difference for the Mets. Lackey would be nice, but unlikely. More likely is another poor year.
