Holliday is basically average, while Bay is below. The statement that Bay is better is well off the mark.

The trend of Bay getting worse each year, and then taking him from Fenway's LF to Citimeadow's LF could be a disaster.

Holliday looked bad when he played in NY, but given his track record I would expect him to learn to be average in Citi as well.

I spent the last couple years watching Bay up close up in Boston. He is not as good on the day to day as the hype. Lets sign Holliday and trade for Hallady and have some Happy Holidays!

Holliday will give us a nice middle of the lineup presence. Bay does not do that. He is not a 4 hitter which is what we are looking for and what Holliday was in St Louis

Holliday stinks in the outfield. No UZR can substitute for personal observation. It's wrong on Murphy and wrong on Holliday.

If Mets inssist on cavernous ballpark, they should stay clear of players who poorly fit.

Not only is Holliday's D unfit for Citi, but his brand - his offense - is function of Coors Field. No need to spend all that money and years on a Nady type - and on D, a lessor type.

You hit the nail on the head. I think they should stay clear of the way overrated Holliday - bt if they do, you know what's going to happen.

Exactly, 7train! Holliday is way overrated.

Aside the excellant points you noted, he's also a .284/.353/.454 hitter on the road - obviously mostly all of that accrued away from Coors.

To me, Holliday is Xavier Nady and Nady is proven commodity on both NY teams and a better defensive player. I've also seen Holliday too many times with my own eyes to know he offers sub par range and defense, and is very bad fit for Citi Field. Nady is free agent coming of TJ surgery who has become a better hitter than he was for us.

If Mets sign Holliday, they're paying for brand name while only getting 99 cent store quality. They're far better off signing Nady if his arm is ready to go.,

Jerry never played a platoon... he played favorites. An actual strict platoon could save us money and give us some league average production or better.

As far as damon... rag arm aside, he can still track a ball. and in left with beltran and french would be a solid defense. plus the dude can still hit. bat him second, save some money and have a plan for the future that allows for our young guys to develop as well as having some flex later for when a legit max dollar type free agent is available.

No thanks.

It would be horrible to pay Holliday that much just see him hit 18 to 25 HR's.

Big money for big boppers - Holliday is not a big bopper.

His home away splits in Colorado will show you that.

22HR's in Coors - 11 Away.

That about 22 HR;s a year if u double his away numbers

NO THANKS.

Get a cheap stop gap, ie Dye

I'm surprised the Sox may not bring Bay back. From listening to sportstalk radio in Boston , which by the way is much worse than in NY even though the announcers aren't Francesa-bad...anyways...everyone liked him, the team liked him, he liked the team...It was a good fit. Another reason why i'm intrigued by their F.O....they may not want to risk a big contract on a player they dont fully believe in (i'm speculating that.)
