This morning, Jeff Francoeur had surgery to repair the torn collateral ligament in his left thumb, the team announced in a press release.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Gary Lourie in Atlanta.
Francoeur originally injured his thumb on a diving catch at Citi Field against the Phillies on August 23, but played through the end of the the season.
Francoeur is expected to be ready for Spring Training.

ohh..that red cross on metsblog, I miss her..
What posible reason did they have to wait a full month after the end of the season to do this surgery? Not like he was invloved in the post season action!
unless the Mets just wanted to make sure he wasn’t fully ready for ST, so he would fit in with the rest of the team?
i think that he himself made the choice to wait, i vaguely remember him talking on an interview about how he wouldn’t have the surgery right away
Along he is still productive and is healthy by ST I’m happy.
Good luck, Jeff. I hope you are part of our NEW AND IMPROVED Mets team in 2910!!!
I’ll be tuning in tonight to see the kids in Philly hats crying.
So sad,
Say it ain’t so, Jimmy!
NOT!
(Don’t like the Yankees. Like the Phillies, less.)
I felt the same thing. its so enjoyable seeing the phillies lose and seeing jimmy rollins’ face after they lost, I just forget that the other team in the yankees.
That’s the rub. Watching this world series and feeling happy seeing sadness on the faces of the Phillies or the Yankees…until you remember that it’s either the Phillies or the Yankees that are happy on the other side.
I noticed it was in Atlanta… Hmmm, I guess not to confident in having surgery in NY
Notice it says EXPECTED. He will probably miss all of spring training. Though I think he will be ready for the season.
Why now? why didn’t this happen 3 weeks ago?
