Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times says that Manny Ramirez is returning to the Dodgers in 2010.
…that squelches the “Manny to the Mets” rumors this winter…
Hernandez says that Ramirez’s agent, Scott Boras, informed Dodgers GM Ned Colletti that his client will not opt out of the final year of his contract.
…it’s probably a wise move for him to stay…there is no way, after the slump he was in after returning from his PED suspension that he would get anywhere close to the $20 million he is due next year from any other club…

This was almost as big a “NO BRAINER” as the Phillies excercising there option on Cliff Lee,….BUt not quite! lol
I don’t care about Lee and MAnny. Every knows that they weren’t gonna be on the MEts. Everyone knows that if the MEts don’t sign Holliday or LAckey OMar will get a mouthful. And still we NEED more than that.
Well the competition for Holliday just lost one more potential bidder.
I think it will come down to Yankees, Mets and Angels…unless the Cards somehow convince Holliday to come back.
It will be interesting to see what the Yankees do with their existing OFers over the next 14 days. Might offer a clue into their offseason plans.
Rumor has it that the Yanks aren’t going to be in on Holiday, or any player that would require high dollar, long term contracts in light of what thye shelled out in the ‘09 offseason. (I’ll believe it when I see it) lol but that’s the rumor! lol
How many moves have already been made in a three-day old offseason? This is crazy.
Only the moves that could be made…trades and player/club options.
The FA market will officially get things rolling in 13 days…
Yeah, but they were all pretty much in-house moves – picking up or declining options, declaring free agency etc. The trades have been pretty low level so far.
