Dylan Hernandez in today’s Los Angeles times believes that the Dodgers will try and trade outfielder Juan Pierre now that Manny Ramirez has decided not to opt out of the final year of his contract.
…the Dodgers didn’t miss a beat with Ramirez suspended and Pierre in his spot…the thought on Pierre is that his skills are diminishing but he did steal 30 bases this season and he hardly strikes out which tells me that he can still be a great leadoff hitter…however he doesn’t walk that much and his average is strikingly close to his on base percentage, but that has been the knock on Jose Reyes as well…
…i just don’t think Pierre should be considered as a solution in the outfield for the Mets…he is fast and can be a catalyst, but the Mets need power and a greater ability to get on base than what he can provide…
For more on Pierre and Ramirez, check out the Los Angeles Times.

Was he on the DL? Did he ‘quit’ toward the end of the season due to ‘artistic differences’? Did he refuse an assignment because he didn’t want to ‘work that hard’? Did he ‘opt out’ of any Spring Training games because he wanted to attend a party?Did he misremember anything he did that was illegal? NO…? Then he IS exactly the guy the METS MUST acquire!
Does he have any power? Pierre’s a nice little player, but not what the Mets need.
If he was willing to be a 4th OF like in LA I would do it but theres no way he will considering thats what he was on a good LA team so why would he want to go to the crappy Mets
Mr 17;
do you have to call them “the crappy Mets.”?
I understand it may be true,
but my lands,
we just had the Yanks-Phils.
could you cut us some slack?
Ya im sorry it was a little harsh, how about the abysmal Mets?
thank you
that’s much better
(retire # 17 )
We don’t need him. We have PAgan as a 4th OF
I NEED something to happen, something good, give me some hot stove…….
Think I’ll bat Castillo third and Pierre 4th, followed by Bonafacio – Geez, if we could just get our hands on him…
In the offseason following a year where our leading homerun hitter blasted a total of 12 homers, exactly where does Juan Pierre fit into this universe?
Can’t even entertain a discussion about Juan Pierre…other than to reject him outright.
I’ve been wanting Pierre since last off season…. Castillo for Pierre helps the mets by getting us a solid hitting speedly LF to bat behind Reyes and opens up 2b for a guy like Hudson. If we have speed and quickness in LF, we can get a power bat for 1b, like Gonzalez.
