I’m Reading: about Miracles, Antidotes, and Returns
By Michael Baron - Nov 8, 2009 11:02 am

Andrew from The ‘Ropolitans, says it would be a miracle if the Mets could sign Aroldis Chapman, but asks “wouldn’t you rather see the team spend the $40-60 million he’s asking for in a bunch of different places?”

Meanwhile, take a look at New York Baseball Digest’s antidote for coping with the Yankees World Series victory.

In a post to the Daily Stache, Michael would like the Mets to bring back Cliff Floyd and Darren Oliver.

Finally, don’t forget to vote on my “Mets Photo of the Week” which will be featured tomorrow along with my “Photo of the Day” every day at 1:35 pm on Twitter here.

I am sick of hearing all this talk that the METS are gonna be in a fight for 5th with the Nats. BS! The Marlins and Braves finished ahead of us because of injuries as did the Phillies. Nobody could have predicted that. I read articles that had the METS in the WS. When you field a AAA team, what can you hope for? We will have a real MLB team on the field and our core players back, as well, as a few additions,I do NOT think that the 2010 season is over, anynody that thinks thinks that should be a Yankee fan. Bandwagon people will pick the Phillies to win the NL Est again, the same ones that go out on a wire and pick the Yankees and used to pick the Braves. Baseball is a game and it must be played. The Phillies could suffer a DL attack like the METS did, and then, what?

Gee, if so many people are willing to offer Chapman 40-60 million, why isn’t he signed?

Jim, if we do not get better pitching, we will not make the playoffs. Don’t care who plays LF or 1B, or how many of the core are back, if we have to rely on Perez, Maine & Pelfrey to make 60% of our starts, we will kill our bull pen by July

While I do agree that we need real #2 arm behind Santana, who did we have starting when Ollie, Maine and Pelfry went down? Thats right the arm of the week. Maine and Ollie went 15-10 in 2006 and I feel they are much better than they have been. We also had injuries to our whole pitching staff. I feel confident that with Santan, #2, Maine, Pelfry and Ollie, all not injured with a healthy K-Rod we have a good rotation. That plus a healthy core and we WILL compete with any team in the NL East. 2009 was NOT a fair assesment of the team. I feel that 2007-08 was more like the METS. Add one or two key pieces, don’t be cheap and shop off the bargin rack, and, the METS will be back on top.

we should not have let Oliver go to begin with, he did a great job while he was here ….

Cliffy, sorry, but we just don’t need him ….

You really can’t predict middle relief except for the really bad (the Heilmans) and the really good.
