The Mets need not rush Davis, and they need to get a credible backstop to teach Thole the ropes. I am not saying this because of the events of this week or the proximity of the team, it is just a convenient parallel. Posada was caddy to his current manager. Thole is not likely to be a 20 HR 90 RBI catcher, but that does not mean he cant be damn good. P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E Patience and time for both Davis and Thole. Make him a September callup, let him get his first taste that way. And invest in someone like Hank Blalock to split time with Murphy(not a straight platoon obviously). This way, if either one of them struggles, there's not the knee-jerk response of calling Davis up too soon.
