Joel Sherman of the New York Post says Omar Minaya will meet with Scott Boras tonight to at least gauge the price on Matt Holliday.
…i don’t expect much to come out of this meeting right now, but talks have to start somewhere i guess…
Earlier today, both Sherman, here, and Adam Rubin of the Daily News, here, said that the price for both Holliday and Jason Bay could be too high for the Mets, and that they may pursue second-tier free agents.

Omar, playing for his life.
Too bad our players don’t do the same!
GET IT DONE OMAR!!!
i dont believe a word anyone says regarding these rumors … first they want him, now they dont, tomorrow they will … what i do believe is the fact that omar and co are going to go hard after holliday.. and he will get the job done
Nice of Minaya to meet with the agent of the biggest FA of the off-season.
Omar don’t be dum. We want to have him him so just talking to people won’t land you good players. You have to spend money which the MEts are afraid to do. Omar even said himself that money isn’t a problem which is why Bay or Holliday and LAckey should be mets. Also, Wolf and Molina.
I’ve been killing Mets management all season but maybe…just maybe…sending out smoke signals about this year’s FAs being too expensive is the beginning of a game of chicken.
The Mets spend money…lots of it. And they’ll spend this winter. They just have to spend it on the right guys.
agreed mextache, i also liken it to last year when we were like oh whatever we’ll take fuentes and then we got krod, you just gotta keep your hands close to the vest.
per twitter he did meet with him for 45 minutes concnering, cora, ankiel and holliday
