David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution says that the Braves are trying to workout an extension with Javier Vazquez.

The 33 year old Vazquez is entering the final year of a three year, $34.5 million deal he signed with the White Sox in 2007, and was 15-10 with a 2.87 ERA with the Braves this past season.

Lastly, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports says that Jim Riggleman and Bobby Valentine are finalists for the managerial job with the Nationals.

Valentine was a candidate or the opening in Cleveland before former Nationals manager Manny Acta was hired.

Riggleman served as interim manager in Washington and managed the Nationals to a 33-42 record after Acta was fired.

Well, Ollie has tended to have boom or bust seasons. So, if there is anyone that can turn a 180 from last year, it is probably him.

Hopefully the knee is all fixed up, and this new found devotion to working out gets him in good shape for ST. Then, a full camp under the watchful eye (and program) of the coaching staff, and just maybe he will have the year Omar expected when he wildly overpaid him!

The Mets need some things to break right next season, and Ollie having a big year will be a huge, huge plus.

Ollie is def. overpaid but he is nowhere near as bad as this season indicated hopefully he has a really good year this year, we are stuck with him and him at four or five in the rotation will be fine especially if he performs

Geeze you’d hope Ollie would have learned after the debacle that last year turned out to be for him that he needs to grow up and take responsibility for his actions and his body. That’s the reason for the visit. To make sure he is progressing, making strides, and staying in shape. If he comes to spring training fat and out of shape not ready to pitch I truly hope Minaya and Manuel make a stand keep him in the minors until he shapes up whenever that may be. I hope he grows up.
