Jon Heyman of SI.com believes the Tigers might also look to trade C-3B Brandon Inge, in addition to Jackson and Granderson.
…and with that, there is only one thing to say… i like inge… a lot…
Inge hit just .230, .205 and .236 each of the last three seasons, but hit 27 HR last season with 84 RBI, while striking out 170 times.
The 32–year-old Inge will earn $6.6 million next season, after which he can be a free agent.
… i don’t think he’s a catcher any more… he’s had a variety of knee issues over the last few seasons, leading him to play 161 games at third base last season, zero at catcher… also, he strikes out like he’s wearing a blind-fold at times… i’ve never seen anything like it, actually…

The New York Post and ESPN say the Tigers are shopping OF Curtis Granderson, who will earn $26 million over the next three seasons.
…i like granderson for two reasons, 1) he’s writes well, and is social media savvy, and 2) he’s been awesome for my fantasy baseball team… in the end, though, i always see him as a great rotisserie guy, but not so great from a day-to-day, little-things, fundamentally-sound, trying-to-win-games point of view…
…i have to think the Yankees will be all over granderson…
Earlier today, Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com said Tigers RHP Edwin Jackson could be available in trade as well.
Jackson, who made the All Star team last season, was 13-9 mark with 3.62 ERA, while striking out 161 batters in 214 innings.
He was drafted by the Dodgers, and became a highly touted prospect, but was later traded to the Rays in 2006, who sent him to Detroit in 2007.
The Detroit Free Press says Tigers C Gerald Laird has also been mentioned in trade talks, as the team looks to cut payroll for 2010.

The more decent OFers that are out there, the better the Mets chances of picking up Holliday, and at a reasonable contract.
I wonder what it would cost to get all three of these guys. That would fill several of our holes and still allow us to spend money on a pitcher like Lackey. Obviously Detroit is looking to dump salary so it might not be as much as normally thought, considering we could take the entire contracts.
I think we would have a decent rotation with Santana, Lackey, Jackson, Pelfrey, then the choice of Perez, Niese, or Maine for that fifth spot.
If they’re completely bent on dumping salary let’s talk about Miggy (27 in 2010). Granted it may take too much talent for them to move him; but it is Hot Stove season.

He can hit for sure…I’d take him but the cost is insanely high for someone who is not that adept on the work ethic front from all public accts
he is 1B now. I understand your concern about the beginning of last season; but he did produce quite well. If they are bent on dumping salary there will be few takers at $104M left on his contract; expecially with Tex and Youk on the Yankees / Red Sox.

Granderson obviously wouldn’t provide the power the Mets need so that may be the determining factor. If only there was a power hitting, high average, defensive whiz available to play first. Hmm….
Granderson would be a step in the right direction for power though and imagine how many triples he would hit in Citi Field?

But I’d like to see the Mets take a crack at Granderson. Solid ballplayer, terrific defender who I believe would hit well in Citi Field.

He is good but the Mets don’t NEED him. He is sort of like an extra player.
Why is he an extra player? He can play LF, crank out 60 extra-base hits, steal 20 bases, draws 70 walks, and give the Mets the best defensive outfield in the Majors.
If the Mets wanted to they can trade with Detroit and fill just about all there problems. Jackson, Granderson and Cabrera would fit very well in Citi Field.
Jackson fill one of our pitching needs and doesn’t make that much money.
Granderson would be a great fit for LF and can give us 20+ HR’s with a lot of triples and stolen bases.
Cabrera……well that guy can just hit and I would love to have in the Mets lineup and playing first base.
I have no idea what it would take to get them but if the Mets use Pagan, Murphy and a bunch of prospects it would get it done. I know people will jump on this cause of how many prospects it would take and the farm would really suck after this but look at it from the other side. All 3 of those players are 27 or younger and you are filling 3 big spots on the team with very talented and young ball players by giving up a bunch of guys who may never make it as a pro.
I think expecting the Tigers to trade Cabrera is pure fantasy at this point. He’s got a market value contract for a player of his caliber. And if he were available, you could bet he, Granderson and Jackson would not be available in the same package, since they could get more for them separately.
Oh yeah, I know that I was just throwing that out there. As far as I know there hasn’t even been any rumors of Cabrera being available, that was more of a hopeful dream for me and probably a bunch of other Mets fans.

Inge has TERRIBLE knee issues, and he hit .230 last year. No thanks, despite Francesa’s inexplicable love affair with the guy.

They threw money around like it had no consequences when they gave Cabrera and Willis those unreasonable extensions… and now they can’t afford to keep their good players. Worse yet, they don’t really have the prospects to replace the players they want to trade because they gave them all to the Marlins in that trade…
They should just suck it up and suffer through 2010, the final year or Willis, Bonderman, Robertson, and Maglio Ordonez’s contracts. But it doesn’t look like they can afford to.
