Omar said money isn’t a problem so the Mets should only make one MAJOR trade like Halladay. A trade like Phillips isn’t minor nor major but he doesn’t fit the needs that we have. They should sign Holliday, Wolf and then Molina or BArajas. They could tweak the bench and bullpen a little bit and try to trade CAstillo and sign Hudson.

I think if they signed 2 legit starters like wolf and marquis on top of holliday even though niether guy is a real #2 or 1A pitcher i think the rotation depth along with that lineup would be enough to make the playoffs of course assuming they make necessary tweaks to the bullpen and bench. But if they sign holliday and try to sell us on pelf/maine/ollie again then yea youre right we could have the 27 yanks and it wont matter.

If the Mets don’t make a big move to upgrade their rotation…it won’t matter if Holliday, Kingman and Piazza suit up for this team. They won’t win.

i have to think they are going to sign matt holliday but they can’t just say oh everyone loves him yay let’s do it and get into a bidding war with either the cardinals (but really how much can they afford to give him?) or the god-forbid, the yankees?

If you want to field a competitive, playoff-contending team next year, you should probably spend whatever it takes to sign Matt Holliday.
