Brian Costa, in a post to his blog for the Star Ledger, says that the Mets are currently renovating the bullpens at Citi Field.

According to Costa, the Padres complained of the obstructed view from the visitors bullpen, and the Mets are now renovating the area so that the bullpens are side by side on the field.

…i wonder if this will change the dimensions of the ‘Mo Zone’ area in right field

For more on these changes, including pictures of these changes, check out Costa’s post here.

Doubtful.

I think they are just basically “flipping the bullpen around” so now instead of pitchers throwing parallel to the wall, they will be throwing towards the field. The bullpens would be side-by-side instead of one after the other, if you’re looking at them from the left-field line.

Or maybe they have heard enough of the National broadcasts complaining endlessly about the bullpen. I know I have.

They needed to fix the bullpens. I couldn’t believe the way they were built. Really dumb. The first time I went to Citi Field, I went out near that apple expecting to see the players from both teams in a similar fashion to Philly. Instead I looked through 1 bullpen to see the other through at least 2 and maybe 3 mesh fences. The other thing is they need to remove the signage on the walls of the pen. Even if you reconfigure the walls, if you block the view with some stupid ad like Geico so that the players can’t see the field, then it doesn’t make a difference.

By the way, are the Mets changing the color of the walls to be blue? That black and orange was horrible.

I hate the dark grass near the apple. Why not real grass. And the wall should definatly be blue and orange. There’s more Dodger thing in Citi than MEts. The Dodger’s probablt think there playing at home when there at Citi.

Please get rid of the stupid mo zone area. David Wright will be on this team for the next 10 years hopefully, please make it realistic for him to hit a HR to RF since thats where his power is anyway.

The Mo’s zone should definately be moved in since it is like impossible to Hr’s there.

Good, I don’t think SNY cameras could even see what was going on in there, let alone the pitchers see out of there. I wonder what they are gonna look like exactly. but I actually had an idea of moving them for straight away center, on either side of the Home run apple, that would’ve been cool, plus it give extra seating.
I think the Mo’s zone is fine, do remember that a pitcher hit a home run there(Paul Maholm).

yeah i agree with the changing the bullpens, but am i the only one that doesn’t care about the black walls?

Zanderssports November 13, 2009 at 9:25 pm

Nope, I really could care less about the color of the walls.

i am no designer but i think that the wall color looks better the way it is now considering the other colors of the park (green seats, etc)…i never got the ‘blue walls’ obsession a lot of fans seem to have…

I’m a supporter of changing the walls back to the blue of Shea.

I think Citi is depressing, not just because the Mets were awful this year, but also because the stadium itself is drab. Some people saw Shea as garish with all the clashing colors, but I think it was fun and bright.

Now we have this enclosed stadium where you are surrounded by boring green seats, and advertisements everywhere you look. Put some color back into this place —

Bring back the orange and blue!
