Matthew from the Daily Stache lists five things we should be thankful for as Mets fans.

Meanwhile, Eli from Mets Underground wonders whether or not Jerry Manuel is in trouble considering the team has hired Dave Jauss as their bench coach, and reminds us that if Jauss succeeded Manuel, it wouldn’t be the first time that has happened.

…no matter who they hire on their coaching staff, if the Mets are sluggish out of the gate next season, i think Jerry will be in trouble whether he deserves it or not…

John from Metstradamus shares a conversation between Matt Holliday, Jeff Wilpon, and Omar Minaya.

Ed from Mets Fever has found an inexpensive version of Mark DeRosa.

Finally, Ted Berg, in a post to his blog TedQuarters, talks about the future of Mets prospect Reese Havens.

I am all for Frank Catalanotto as a utility player on this team, as he played for 4M last year and was bought out of his option, I am not sure what kind of money he would be looking for. I suppose that could change things… but lets say 2M? That would be reasonable.

Frank Catalanotto and Omar Visquel could be two great bench/utility players for this team.

Under what circumstances would it not be Jerry’s fault if the Mets get out to a slow start this year?

Jauss did not succeed Jerry Manuel the way it was implied in that article.

Jerry Manuel was promoted from minor league manager to minor league coordinator.

His first move in his new job was to hire his replacement and he hired Dave Jauss.

Other than 3 games last year Frank Catalanotto hasn’t played 2B since 2002 and 3B since 2001. He played 40 games at 1B over 2008 and 2007. He basically a LF at this point; and one that lacks both power and speed.

Pass.
