Totally agreed. The mets starting rotation is ba-ad.Some people i think could still do good like maine,pelf,k-rod,not perez, the mets still trust perez but i dont. This would be great for the mets, and i am not lying.Castillo is getting old and we need a young 2b,like brandon phillips. Also do you remember that game earlier in the season where castillo dropped that fly ball? exactly. We need a guy like millwood-he has been dirty in the years. This would do great for the mets in there starting rotation.nnot kidding.

If they bring back Carlos, it will be on an incentive based contract, which would mitigate the downside risk

That contract????? ONE year for $12 milion, and to get rid of Castillo's 2 years and $12 million? And Millwood over ANY of our fifth starter potentials??

No matter how you spin this, even if Millwood's ERA next year is 4.50 - 5.00, this would be a winning deal for the Mets in that we get Castillo off the team and upgrade our rotation. In case you didn't notice, our starters weren't very good last year. An ERA of 4.5-5 (and I think it would be much better than that) would be an upgrade, sad as that may be. Plus, it frees up money for 2011, when the free agent class is significantly better.

I've got to say Michael, I disagree with almost everything you post on here. I agree with Cerrone about 50% of the time, but I don't understand necessarily how this rumored deal could be a bad thing for the Mets

I think there are a few reasons to move on from Delgado...

He's old and brittle and coming off of two major injuries. As a regular starter (which is why you'd bring him back) he wouldn't last to June 1st without getting hurt.

Not that he's the answer, but what does the team do with Murphy?

And I think the Mets need some new blood. New players who are hungry to turn this thing around. Not the same. This group has already shown they can't get the job done.

to be fair, he had the hip fixed last year, and from reports, it was a success.

A Rod and Utley had similar surgery, and they both made it through the season. I belive Lowell had it too.

If anything, having had the problem fixed Iit was chronic) should make him more lkiely to be helathy and productive next season. Of course, at 37, 8 other problems are likely to crop up instead!

But, on a 1 year deal with a modest guarantee? Worth a risk, esepcially if they are pencilling in Davis by 2011.

Im mixed on Delgado. I mean on one hand if healthy, and that really is a big if, he could be an asset as a platton 1st baseman. I mean daniel murphy is not exactly stellar but it could work *emphasis could*.

If im not mistaken, at the end of next year pujols will be on the market, but will have a club option for 2011. Going by his recent feelings about St. Louie and their not helping him out talent wise, he may want to get out. While he may want a texiera type deal, id give it to him and have to deal with Delgado/murphy/evans/davis for this year

couldn't agree more about A-Gon. Nothing against Davis but he is just a prospect. Last time I checked we haven't had too many prospects work out for us. Wright and Reyes have more than worked out but every year we hear about the next big time superstar and none of them do anything. Lets take the Mets 2 best prospects in the past 10 years not named Wright or Reyes and see how they are doing:
Milledge.....Give me a break with this guy
Kazmir......Well it looks like that trade wasn't so bad now. Kazmir can't get thru the 5th inning on a good night and would have cost the Mets a lot more money than Zambrano did.

Agreed team needs to make changes. Best move this team can make is trading for Adrian Gonzalez but the Mets have made up thier mind being a 1 year platoon at 1b. If no Gonzo ? Delgado makes alot of sense if healthy. At 37 Delgado will hit more HR's than Beltran or Wright if healthy. Add a LF, and pitching. This team might surprise us all

I really don't understand the burning desire to move on from Delgado. If he's healthy enough to play and he's open to taking an incentive based contract, I don't see the downside to picking him back up.

If there were other 1B on the market who were younger with a little more talent or even a little bit of potential, I'd get that sentiment. But as a one year stop-gap when the Mets think Ike Davis is on his way up, I'd bring Carlos back. This is a move that would be about winning in 2010 and would have no negative impact on winning in 2011.
