Gonzo over Cabrera any day of the week. Cabrera may be a slightly better hitter, but he’s a fatty and can’t really move around in the field. He looks and smells like a future designated hitter, while Gonzo is one of the best 1b’s in the league defensively.

i would take Gonzo over Cabrera …. however, DET is in a $$$$ world of hurt, so Cabrera might come in a better deal …

IF Cabrera took better care of himelf, then he would be better …. maybe putting him with Beltran could help change that …

Just buy 6 games. It’s not like there was any real benefit to it, besides the same seats, which is kinda boring anyway.

I agree with you on keeping Davis. I think there is a better chance of that in a Cabrera; especially given the number of teams in the mix. It could be the Mets and Red Sox only. The Yankees have Tex, the Phils have Howsrd, the Angels have Morales so it looks like the Red Sox and maybe the Dodgers. The Sox have Youk so it could devolve into a Santana situation where we get him for some semi-prospects. Imagine a Beltran, Cabrera, Wright, Davis, Francouer 3 through 7. My Grandmother could win 12 games as the #5 SP with that lineup. Plus Davis’ salary would offset Cabrera’s salary for several years. Time to go to the mall and talk to Santa.

I like either AGon or Cabrera; AGon more since he has a much lower salary. But Cabrera is still a massive increase in offence. From whst I’ve rezd he can’t play 3B anymore but is above average at 1B.

Regarding Jackson: be careful what you wish for. At first I liked the idea but have had second thoughts. His first half OPS against was .617. But his second half OPS against was .856. That’s brutal; it is higher than just about every full time OF in baseball.

I thought that fielding would be a deciding factor, but while Gonzo is better, Cabrera made strides at 1B in 2009 so its not as much as a factor. I kind of like the idea that when Cabrerra makes contact, he’s more likely to get a hit. I like Gonzo because he’s a lefty.

Wright should be secure either way. We’re certainly not going to move Cabrerra to 3B
What would be preferrable is keeping Davis to play a corner.

I gotta agree, I’m roughly 4 hours away so guaranteeing that I would get to15 games is a pretty dicey call to say the least. Not that I wouldn’t want to. 6 packs were definetly the way to go.
