Pelfrey and Tejada would not be missed ... i would gladly give up those 2 ... the question is what else would it take to get it done ....

the less the better .... but for that deal - it would be very hard not to make it. that is a steal, no matter if Pelfrey suddenly decides to get it ... which he isn't giving any indication that he will

I am mixed on this.. The players toronto wants for Halliday makes it hard to say no. In away, I rather see the Mets move F-Mart for a Cabrera or Gonzalez. From what i keep hearing is the Mets are a favorite to land Halliday which puzzles me because with the prospects the Redsox have to offer. You would figure Halliday would of been a Redsox by now. It must mean the Jays are reluctant to trade within the division or the AL

I think at this point, based on performance and last years injury, Reyes for Halladay is a fair deal. A little less certainty in the younger player for a lot of certainty in the older player.
I think if we did a full court press for Halladay and got him then we should spend the rest of our money on more better pitching and defense. If we are going to be a team built around those two starters and Wright, Reyes, Beltran, then we should commit fully to pitching and defense. Otherwise, if we want an offensive powerhouse we should go full court for Holliday and Polanco and upgrade RF and C.

I would like to think we could get a better return than Roy Hallady for Beltran or Reyes.

Halladay is on the wrong side of thirty, and you have to pay him a lot of money. Reyes and Beltran should be able to fetch a lot more respectively.

That is my fear. You get Halladay, then you can't sign Holliday. I think Holliday is the bigger priority.

It would be cool if the Wilpons decided to ante up, and get both but I can't blame them for not doing it.

The way you put that, I wouldn't want Doc on my team if you're gonna give up young stars like Reyes and kinda young like Beltran for a kinda old pitcher in Halladay. Doesn't make sense.

First off. Mike Pelfrey=flash in the pan. and a pitcher that would be better off then the spotlight of NY.

Second- I honestly, and I've thought about this for a while now..would trade everyone minus 2 players (Johan and Wright) to get Halladay. Meaning Reyes for Halladay, Beltran for Halladay as one off trades if the Jays ever went as far as that in their counter offers. I think that Halladay is perfect for this team and he and Santana would be so complimentary it would bring fans back after a horrific season.

Third- By trading for Halladay......you can pretty much count on a Josh Willingham type to be our LF next year. In otherwords, I don't think the Mets can get quality pitching and tremendous offense--I think it's one or the other.

figure at least 17-18mil for halladay would have payroll around 120 before any of the above signings
