Joe D from MetsMerized Online is happy Bud Selig is stepping down as commissioner in three years.
…i don’t really know how i feel about it…i think i am indifferent, but then again, i do feel that baseball needs fresh blood with fresh ideas on how to continue to evolve the game, not to say that baseball isn’t doing well today…
…i wonder what all of this means for Pete Rose…
Speaking of commissioners, Mike from New York Baseball Digest thinks baseball needs another Kenesaw Mountain Landis.
Meanwhile, Andrew from The Ropolitans polled his readers, and they chose Matt Holliday as their choice for the Mets to sign this winter.
Finally, in a post to Mets Today, Joe Janish wonders what bat the Mets might have to offer in a deal for Roy Halladay.

Matt Holliday will make a nice addition but if your looking for a cleanup hitter ? Guess again! Holliday will make a perfect #3 hitter 15-20 HR’s with a 330 BA. If your looking for a clean up hitter ? Adrian Gonzalez is our man !!!!
Like I said in my post below, Agon won’t be traded so you are basicly looking at Bay.
Alright, so the Mets main priorities are probably LF and a #2 starting pitcher. For LF, you have guys like Bay and Holliday and for a #2 you have Lackey. You can’t sign one of the big LF’s and still sign Lackey. You can sign one or the other. Say you sign Lackey. There aren’t really other good LF’s. Sure there is Ankiel and Willingham but that isn’t really god enough. So let’s say you sign Bay or Holliday first. You can get Sheets as your #2 and get Wolf or Marquis for your #3. Also, I don’t think the Mets will end up with Halladay and Agon won’t be traded anymore. Halladay won’t be on the Mets because, I doubt the Mets would want to sign Doc’s extension going through 40 years. I think that Boston will pick him up.
I think it’s great Bud Selling and his toupee are stepping down finally as he was one of hte most ineffective commissioners in recent memory. However, I’d be very surprised if the owners will agree to bring in a true commissioner – someone like a Mario Cuomo or a George Mitchell. More than likely it will be another Selig clone.
As for Pete Rose, I believe he will only go into the HOF posthumously
Murphy & Franceour.
Dcgfan – dead right. Daniel Murphy may not be our 1B of future, but he is going to have a 15 year career for some team as a 20 HR, .290 hitting 3B … I think he could do that this year. He will be a very solid pro, and he has trade value. I don’t know if Murphy and Pelfrey with prospect FMart is TOO much for Halladay but I think it is should be very attractive to Toronto.
PETE ROSE should be in the HOF. It is that simple, what he did was no worse that drug abuse or steroids, and, he played the game clean and his offense was as a manager. I grew up playing third base and Pete Rose was my hero. IF Roger Clemens gets into the HOF, then, Pete Rose should go in hands down.
