The Phillies have signed reliever Danys Baez to a two year contract, according to MLB.com.
After missing the entire 2008 season, the 32 year old Baez pitched 71 2/3 innings for the Orioles in 2009, going 4-6 with a 4.02 ERA in 59 games.
…i remember the Mets were supposedly interested in Baez some years ago as a closer when he was with the Devil Rays, but instead they ended up with Braden Looper…
Baez is expected to join Ryan Madson and J.C. Romero as a setup man to Brad Lidge.

Hopefully Brad Lidge will blow up again this year!
Not cool to wish injuries to players.
I’d agree, may the Phillies suck, the Marlins and Braves implode and the Nats ,…well,….be the Nats, but let’s not wish harm on anyone. Lord knows we know how it feels to have injured players!
But wouldn’t it be awesome to get revenge on them Phils. We can be 10 ahead in the middle of August.
Where did I wish an injury on a player…do you think I literally meant blow up…I didn’t know he literally blew up last year…if he did my opologies to the Lidge family…although I’m pretty sure he just stunk last year and that is what I meant.
MY BAD, I guess I misinterpeted……..it happens…!
A ‘non’-signing.
I just read a blog saying how good of a teammate and nice guy Baez was. This is going to make it hard to hate him when he’s on the Phillies. Then again, I hate everyone on the Phillies…so maybe it won’t be as hard after all.
