By Matthew Cerrone on Feb 08, 2010, 5:16 pm

Tom Kaminski of WCBS Radio took pictures of Citi Field from the Chopper 880.

this is what the Mets bullpen felt like in September 2008, as wellouchactually, i think the goal here is to give the away bullpen a full view of the field, unless last season when it was hidden

That’s about what things will look like during a game this September.

That picture just re-highlights how ridiculous the shape of the field is

The HOF is going to be in RF? I hope they put some protection around it b/c that’s probably what it will look like after a weekend of Ollie, Maine and Pelf vs. Ibanez, Utley and Howard. Ugh.

It has gotten it’s share of criticism, but it looks pretty good from those aerial shots.

At least now the clowns on the DC broadcast will hopefully shut up about it being “classless”.

A friend of mine is one of the contractors at Citifield and told me at the Super Bowl Party I was at, that he was at citifield yesterday (two days ago) and was telling me how they are rearranging the bullpen. He told me when they were intially building it he said to whoever was in charge, “Why are we setting this up where the opponent doesn’t have a view of the field”. He told me the Padres contested the first home game because of that.

    Only the Mets.

On the other issue of the dimensions and walls: How did that meeting go down.
“Ok guys we’re moving from a pitchers park in Shea, NOW lets raise the walls in certain areas and make it deeper in certain areas so its . . . .I don’t get it.

you dont get it? they built this like this mainly because of Omar and his jackass ideas

How bout they take down the flag poles blocking the scoreboard from the right field section. The entire year I’d sit in my seat and be able to see the score or runs scored. On windy days couldn’t see a whole lot more. Nothing grinds my gears more than illogical thought as to have 1000 flags around the stadium roof, but then have d flag poles in front of the scoreboard.

I used to be proud to be a Met fan. Whenever I would go to games, I would always revel in the fact that Met fans were blue collar tough guys, while our neighbors were Wall Street pretty boy whiners. I love the Mets, the team to be precise. But you people are absolutely pathetic and make me almost completely ashamed to be in this fraternity of fans. The level of b*itching and complaining has sunk to an all new low. They’re changing the g** d*** bullpen for goodness sake. Have you all not effing whined enough in other posts? Or do you all just look for something to complain about in everything you see? Are your lives all so meaningless, depressing, and pathetic that all you can do is complain?

I have a suggestion for you all: get yourself a life!

Also, this blog post is only about the fixing the bullpen to allow visiting teams to see the field..yet people are complaining about irrelavent crap..

Really. I mean, give me a break already. And that is only speculation as well. A cursory glance at the Official Rules of Major League Baseball shows absolutely zero regulation of bullpen positioning, view, color, shape, size, etc. So as for people making it out to be anything more than it is, enough.
All you have to do is open your eyes, unclog your ears, and shut your mouths. Read a little. According to Marty Noble: “the club has begun changing the layout of both bullpens beyond the right-center field wall, making them more visible to fans, the dugouts and the television cameras…[;] the alignment that existed for the 2009 season prevented the television and radio announcers from identifying the pitchers warming up, especially the pitchers in the visitors’ ‘pen.” http://noble.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/11/mets_fixing_up_bullpen_–_mean_1.html

But I guess everyone would rather just take some shots at the dog while its down. Simply pathetic.

Know whats funny, soon as the season starts all the whiners will start cheering again. Its just a cycle they’ve become accustomed to. Anyone who thinks the Mets wont put up decent numbers this year is naive; we have a solid team.

In any event, how funny would it be if we walked into opening day and the reason for this construction is to make the RF wall 15 ft. I mean I couldn’t say Id be surprised lol

That would be a good thing though, right? Isn’t RF 18ft high?

rooting for the players and complaining about Omar and Wilpons are totally different. we love the team (the players) and that’s what pisses us off and makes us complain… that Omar and the F.O. seem to be screwing it up. i’m not complaining, just explaining the complaining.

While you’re there why don’t you get rid of that Mo Zone corner and move the fence in so David Wright can actually hit an opposite field HR, you know since he used to be good at that.

Id say if Citi Field had that same corner pocket in RF like Yankee Stadium does, Wright would have about 5+ more hrs each yr.
