Buzz: Barajas likely to Accept Mets Offer
Jon Heyman of SI.com says free-agent C Rod Barajas is likely to accept a one-year, roughly $1 million minor-league offer from the Mets.
…last week, or the week before, i said the Mets were still interested in barajas, which i was glad to hear… he’s not great, but, like i had been saying since October, i would much, much rather have barajas, for one year and at minimal cost, than have Bengie Molina making $12 million for two years… i am not concerned with offense at catcher… however, i’m thrilled to know the Mets might end up having the best defensive catching duo in baseball, in barajas and Henry Blanco, while Josh Thole is allowed to get more work in Triple-A…

Yesterday, Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, said, “The Mets are making a hard push for Barajas,” while negotiating with him on a one-year deal.
Today, in the Daily News, Adam Rubin quotes a team official who says the Mets are only interested in Barajas on a minor-league deal.
Meanwhile, Jeff Wilson of the Star-Telegram believes the Rangers offered minor-league deals to both Barajas and free-agent C Jose Molina, ‘but each declined.’
According to Wilson, the Rangers prefer Molina, “who isn’t in a hurry to sign until some other catchers set the early-spring market.”
…the thing is, i’d have to think barajas is thinking the same thing about molina…
