Poll: The Race for the Fifth Starter
In a post to the baseball blog for the New York Times, David Waldstein explains why Hisanori Takahashi’s chances of making the starting rotation increased yesterday.
In his only appearance this spring, Takahashi let up no runs and just one hit in three innings, during which he struck out six batters and walked no one.
He is scheduled to pitch tomorrow against the Twins.
Meanwhile, Nelson Figueroa has not allowed a run in eight innings and three appearances; Fernando Nieve has a 6.00 ERA in six innings; and Jon Niese let up four runs and six hits in four innings.
