Quote: Takahashi can Pitch, and Pitch with his Pitches
According to the Associated Press, Jerry Manuel recently said he would like to see Hisanori Takahashi start a game this spring, “To get him as close to what we might see in the regular season.”
In six innings this March, Takahashi has let up no runs and two hits, while striking out nine batters.
“What we have seen so far is he really has the ability to pitch and pitch with all his pitches,” Manuel is quoted as saying, in regards to Takahashi. “He probably is our sharpest pitcher right now, as far as everything hitting where he wants it to hit.”
…look, he’s been perfect… there is no way around it… if he keeps it up, keeps executing and doing what he’s doing, he’s going to be on the roster… the question is, will he be a starting pitcher, or in the bullpen… my bet, right now, if the season started tomorrow, which it doesn’t, but if it did, he’d be in the rotation, Jon Niese would be in the minors - since he has options, and he’ll be needed at some point soon, i am sure… but, there is still plenty of time for this to all play out, and i think it’s foolish to make projections…
