Buzz: Agent for Joe Beimel Not Talking to Mets
According to Mark Hale of the New York Post, Joe Sroba, the agent for LHP Joe Beimel, said he isn’t talking to the Mets anymore about his client, as he said there were “too many mixed signals from the Mets.”
…this is a shame…i really think the Mets could use Beimel as their second left handed pitcher out of the bullpen, especially if the Mets put Hisanori Takahashi in the rotation…i would’ve thought the Mets would’ve recognized the need for another lefty even more after Pedro Feliciano got hit on the leg on Thursday in Jupiter…this could mean Takahashi is headed towards that role, but so far, i think Takahashi has demonstrated he can add value as at least the long man in the rotation or in the rotation…
On Friday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports said he believed the Mets were still in talks for Beimel, and Mike Puma of the New York Post said the Mets had offered Beimel a one year, Major League contract worth less than the $2 million he earned last year while with the Nationals and Rockies.
