News: Additional Changes to Citi Field in 2010
Today, the Mets announced additional changes at Citi Field for the 2010 season.
The Mets will display a game day starting lineup above the escalators inside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.- On each side of the Field Level, vintage baseball cards of Cleon Jones, Dave Kingman, and Robin Ventura will be on display.
- Blue Smoke, Big Apple Brews and Box Frites will open additional locations on the Promenade Food Court.
- The 1969 and 1986 World Championship teams will be celebrated in the Champions Club, formerly known as the Ebbets Club, with the first base side honoring the 1986 season and the third base side honoring the 1969 season.
- The VIP entrances will be renamed – the first base entrance will be called “Hodges VIP”, the third base entrance will be called “Seaver VIP”, the left field VIP entrance will be called “Stengel VIP”. Each entrance will feature images of each celebrating their Mets careers.
- Banners of Mets players from all eras have been added to the Mets plaza in the parking lot, including Ed Kranepool and Edgardo Alfonzo.
- The outfield bridge will be renamed “Shea Bridge” in honor of Bill Shea.
- The Homerun apple, which was originally located beyond the center field wall at Shea Stadium, now resides in front of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, outside Citi Field.
Executive Vice President David Howard said, “These changes along with the opening of the Mets Hall of Fame & Museum, reflect our ongoing desire to enhance the fan experience and showcase Mets history… Our fans told us what they wanted to see, and we will continue to respond to their feedback as we further refine the ballpark.”
