Post Game: Rockies 11 Mets 3

by Matthew Cerrone on April 14th, 2010 at 12:02 am

The Mets (2–5) lost to the Rockies (4–3) by the score of 11 to 3 in Coors Field tonight.

For a full recap and boxscore, go to SNY.TV.

  • John Maine let up eight runs and eight hits, he walked four batters and struck out three, using 75 pitches against 20 batters in just three innings.
  • Jose Reyes had two hits.
  • David Wright hit his second home run of the season.
  • Jenrry Mejia pitched a scoreless inning – his third in a row.
  • Keith Hernandez would prefers to ride a bicycle with butterfly handle bars, which is something I would love to see… or not.

…maine is a mess… i have no idea what his issue is… he has a weak fastball, he’s sloppy and something just doesn’t seem right… following the game, on SNY’s Post Game Show, Bobby Ojeda talked a lot about maine not repeating his delievery… ojeda said maine’s timing is off, and he’s releasing the ball from different spots… ok… great… the bottom line is, he hasn’t been very good… and, i wonder how long the Mets will tolerate it… i want Johan Santana to pitch every fifth day, period… the rest of the rotation should have to work around him… and so, maybe if maine needs time to work on some things and clear his head – in April – maybe he should take a sit one time throughojeda said pitchers will go through slumps, just like hitters, and it’s the job of the pitching coach to see maine through it, and limit the number of consecutive bad starts

…in the end, the Mets were never even in this game… Greg Smithwho – had the Mets off balance all night… they never got a good swing off him, and they were guessing all night… they looked against him, much like they looked against Livan Hernandez

The Mets play the Rockies again tomorrow night in Colorado at 8:40 pm EST, with Jon Niese (0-1, 4.50 ERA) taking on Aaron Cook (0-1, 6.75 ERA).
