Pre-Game: Jose Reyes Should Bat One Slot Ahead of Jason Bay

This afternoon at Citi Field, Jerry Manuel told Adam Rubin of ESPN New York he feels Jose Reyes should be batting one slot ahead of Jason Bay, but has yet to decide whether or not Reyes would leadoff and Bay would bat second, or if Reyes will bat third and Bay will hit cleanup.

…i definitely think it’s time for some sort of change in the lineup, as the current order simply isn’t getting much done, but i do think Reyes belongs, and always will belong in the leadoff spot…in the end, i think Reyes could make the adjustment to the third spot, but who is a better leadoff hitter on this team, besides a healthy Jose Reyes…part of the problem is there just isn’t very much lineup depth right now, so both Bay and David Wright aren’t seeing very good pitches to hit, and they appear over-anxious as a result, but by moving Bay up in the lineup, i worry Wright becomes even more exposed by the lack of lineup depth….ugh…
