- Jon Niese started for the Mets, and he allowed a run on five hits, but walked five batters and threw 116 pitches in 5 1/3 innings.
- Both Jeff Francoeur and Jason Bay contributed long RBI doubles to centerfield – Francoeur’s double was hit square off the 415 foot sign.
- Jason Bay finished the day going 3 for 4 with two singles and a double.
- Henry Blanco singled and stole a base, and it was the first time he has had a stolen base since 2001.
- Jose Reyes made a fantastic diving catch to end the eighth inning, which likely saved a run.
- David Wright‘s struggles continued, going 0 for 4 and grounded into an inning ending double play in the eighth inning.
- Fernando Nieve made his 12th appearance of the year with 1/3 of an inning in relief.
- Francisco Rodriguez earned his third save in as many days with a scoreless ninth inning.
…i thought Niese did a good job getting out of trouble today, but he gave up way too many walks, and his pitch count was way too high…he needs to find a way to be more efficient…
…the Braves haven’t exactly played sound fundamental baseball in this series, beating themselves defensively and on the bases, and they’ve buried themselves so far as a result…i’m not minding that…
…Wright couldn’t buy a hit right now…i keep seeing different batting stances, and his swing is still so long…i’m confident he’ll get back on track, but, man, right now he is painful to watch…
…it’s SO GREAT to have Reyes back on all cylinders…
Game Ball:
Goes to Jason Bay for his 3 for 4 day at the plate.
